Music classes are run by a music therapist, who has been working as a music teacher for many years. Music therapy is wonderful because it individualizes to each students’ needs. The focus is not on the learning of music, but on the more generalized goals of each student. The children are encouraged to explore their interests in instruments and push themselves towards their goals. Music therapy allows for working through objectives with the tool of music. The students have learned to enjoy music in a more in-depth fashion using a variety of methods
Amy Goldkin - Music
Amy has her Bachelors of Science in Music Therapy from Texas Woman's University. She is currently working on her Masters in Special Education. This is Amy's First year at Madonna Learning Center. She has recently moved to Memphis from Charlston, and has worked at Bornblum Jewish Community school. Amy is married to Alan, and has 5 children between the ages of 10- 17. She loves reading, cycling, raising her children and loves ice cream. Amy has volunteered at Madonna Learning Center before being hired as and employee. She loves the warmth, and smiles at MLC, and looks forward to being a part of the students growth.
