Community Collaborations

Madonna Learning Center is grateful for the support of our community, including individual efforts, local community organizations, corporate entities and educational institutions. Through these efforts, we “boast” of the large number of volunteers that help create a true community school – where our volunteers range in age from teenagers to the golden years. These include:

• Knights of Columbus Silver Foxes, who lead Senior High and Adult Program woodworking and other skills courses. These items are auctioned off at the Annual Gala;

• Local corporations who routinely send staff (oftentimes with materials and donated goods) to volunteer – such as FedEx and Baptist Hospital;

• Germantown Kiwanis Club who offers the Terrific Kids Program and Aktion Club;

• Germantown Garden Club who cultivate our butterfly garden;

• Other community not for profit entities, including Best Buddies;

• The University of Memphis Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology, University of Phoenix and Christian Brothers University, who send teachers for training in clinical experiences, special education, speech therapy and occupational therapy;

• Countless community volunteers who work with the children one-on-one in classrooms; and

• Our local elementary and high schools that provide assistance through service hours and volunteer work. Last academic year, over 250 students volunteered at Madonna Learning Center!

Madonna Learning Center is proud to be a partner with so many Memphis-area institutions. Our relationships traverse faith, mission and age – and enrich both our students’ lives – and the lives of our volunteers. This is truly a community effort.

Madonna Learning Center provides a nurturing faith-based educational and social environment that empowers young and adult students with special needs to reach their full potential while offering support to their families.
