Dear
Madonna Parents:
The letter
accompanies a form named “Tuition Assistance Request” and is designed to help
you apply for scholarship support for SY 2009-10, if this is necessary for your
family. Please complete the form and
include a copy of your recent tax return. The due date for this form is May
18th. Please place your request form in an envelope and seal it,
putting my name on the front of the envelope.
I am the only staff member who will ever see your tuition request.
Our Board
of Directors will be meeting on May 18th to discuss and hopefully
approve the budget for SY 2009-10. Part
of this approval will also include establishing the tuition for next school
year. Another part of the budget discussion
will center on how much money the Board can allocate for tuition
assistance. Your requests for support
for next school year will help the Board determine that allocation.
When I
receive your tuition assistance request form and tax return, I will summarize
the information you provide and assign you an identifying number. When our Board committee meets to review your
requests, they will not have access to your identity; only the specific
information from your request that best helps them determine allocations. The committee will make their recommendations
for tuition assistance, and I will, in turn, notify you of their decision.
I do not
yet know the date when the Board committee will meet…it will be sometime after
May 18th but before the end of the school year. I promise to be in
touch with you as soon as the committee has met and makes their determination.
As you
would expect with our current economic challenges, donations to our scholarship
fund have not been as large as in past years.
The Board committee reviews each request on an individual basis and
awards what it can to assist a family in continued enrollment at Madonna. The committee tries hard to stretch the
available monies so that all families can benefit from the support.
Remember, you must apply to be considered, and the
