GREAT NEWS ABOUT MATTHEW!

Matthew (Abis) was moved out of ICU yesterday and into a regular room (#3428) at Baptist.  The ventilator was removed several days ago and Matthew has been successfully breathing mostly room air since then!  Several other tubes have also been removed, with success. Matthew remains unable to speak (for now) but he is, as we all know, a great communicator, so uses a white board to write messages on!!!! He is allowed visitors but within reason, and any visitor needs to be healthy…Matthew doesn’t need any new germs introduced!  He remains on a feeding tube for now so please do not bring any food goodies.   He loves receiving cards and messages. (It is best to send cards to his home address and Caren and Barney bring them in to Matthew).  He is using his laptop all the time so e-mail message are also most welcome.

This is tremendous progress in a short time period.  Matthew asked me last evening, however, to ask all of you to continue to pray for him. He wants to “go home”, “see High School Musical 3 a.s.a.p., and “come back to school and work”.

Trunk and Treat on Sunday

Come to Madonna on Sunday (10/26) from 2-4 and let’s party!!!! It is our annual Trunk and Treat event…lots of fun for the whole family!!!  We’ll start off in the cafeteria with some fun games…then after 30-45 minutes (or so) go “trunk and treating” to all the cards in the parking lot.

(In case this is new for you: set up your car trunk, or whatever part of your car you wish, with delicious treats and goodies that you will give out to the visiting ghosts and goblins who come!  Park anywhere you wish on the MLC property…spread out the parking ).

We keep this event fun and easy so everyone can enjoy it!  Costumes are welcome but not essential, depending on how your child (children) feel.

Remember: come by 2pm to the cafeteria so we can begin the fun!

Next Week at Madonna

·        Our annual Variety Club Halloween party will be Thursday, 10/30. The Variety Club makes every party so special!  Do not send lunches on that day; the Variety Club treats us all to pizza!  Also, we are relaxing uniform code for that day…please let your son or daughter wear jeans/ t-shirts on Thursday.

·        Our in-house Halloween party continues on Friday (10/31) and students are encouraged to wear costumes that day!!!  No uniforms are required!!!!

Both days are full school days with dismissal at the regular time of 2:30pm.

Looking Ahead

  1. Our annual Memorial Mass is at 9am on 11/4 (Tuesday) and all MLC families are invited to attend this special time with us.  Please call Keva to let her know you will attend.  Brunch will be served after Mass.  Do come and pray with us!
  2. We will still have a half day/noon dismissal on 11/7/08 as originally planned.  This will be a work afternoon for our staff.
  3. CHANGE:  there will not be a work Saturday on 11/8 as originally scheduled…this is being shifted to the next week…Saturday 11/15 starting at 9am.  This will be the very important “work” day for preparation of scenery and costumes for our annual Christmas production.  Please try to make room for us in your busy schedules…even a one hour commitment is a huge help!  We’ll be painting scenery again…potentially hanging scenery…readying the stage for the production…and doing lots of handwork on costumes! (More details later)
  4. Yes…it is Christmas Play prep time!!!!!  Our production (brand new) this year is entitled “The Christmas  Sense-ation  and promises to thoroughly delight everyone.  Rehearsals will be starting next week and we’ll be reviewing details with the students probably tomorrow!!!
  5. Meanwhile…I am searching for six $1000 sponsors for the show…if you are interested or know someone I might contact, please give me a call!!!!!  (I already have two sponsors!!!!)  Sponsorship has a special “perk”…so give me a call!!!!!
